The Greene King August Leisure Spend Tracker Report showed that Drinking out in July grew by 14% to £46 due to the good weather tempting household to drink outside of the home.
In July there was an increase of £22 against June in the average British household spend on out of home leisure up to £202.
With families keen to keep their kids occupied as the holidays start, Other Leisure spend rose to £81 or by 18%.
Eating Out spend continued to raise with a 5% rise on top of a similar rise in June.
Greene King’s Commercial Director, Steve Jebson said: “The Summer holidays are now upon us and July’s leisure spending showed that other Leisure, which includes activities such as bowling , cinema and live events, blazed a trail as household entertained their kids. Family household led the growth in total leisure spending in July, with these households increasing their leisure spending by 19%, or £40. compared to June. Steve went on to say “We also believe that, despite the growth in the number of those planning a trip abroad this year, the demand for “staycations’ remains strong.”
