Propelinfonews.com – Plan for Premier inn, Brewers Fayre and KFC drive-thru in Skegness submitted after positive consultation: Developer KCS said it received a “positive” response to a pre-application consultation on plans for an 80-bedroom Premier Inn with Brewers Fayre and a KFC drive-thru, located at Pier Field in Skegness, which it said could create 90 year-round jobs in the area. Plans have now been submitted to East Lindsay District Council, which will undertake its own consultation on the proposals later this summer. Director at KCS Richard Morton, who is leading the development proposals, said: “More than 50% of the respondents believed that Pier Field is a suitable location for a new leisure development and 62% believed that the new hotel, Brewers Fayre and KFC would support the local economy.”

Propelinfonews.com – American-style steakhouse Rocker’s begins expansion with second Cambridge site: American-style steakhouse Rocker’s, which adorns its walls with rock music memorabilia, has opened its second site in Cambridge. The new restaurant has opened in Cambridge Leisure Park offering American classics such as burgers, steaks, chicken wings, chilli cheese fries and home-made coleslaw. Memorabilia on display ranges from signed electric guitars and classic photographs to CDs and items of clothing, Cambridge News reports. Every Friday and Saturday night, from 11pm until late, the venue turns into the Moonshine Cocktail Club featuring innovative cocktails with table service, as well as live music performances. Cambridge Leisure Park general manager Diane Quick said: “We are delighted to welcome Rocker’s. The fit-out is stunning and it will be a great addition to Cambridge Leisure.” Cambridge Leisure Park also includes The Light cinema, a tenpin bowling alley, and a Travelodge hotel, as well as branches of Nando’s, Casual Dining Group-owned Bella Italia, better burger brand Five Guys, and The Restaurant Group-owned brands Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito. In April, plans were lodged for a multimillion-pound TGI Friday’s in the cobbled “piazza” area of the complex.

Propelinfonews.com – Top American chef to open first UK restaurant in Derby with Mexican concept: Top American chef Johnny Hernandez, who is known for his Mexican dishes, is to open his first UK restaurant in Derby. Hernandez, who cooked at the White House for president Barack Obama’s Cinca de Mayo celebration, is launching Mexico at the Intu Derby shopping centre. It is opening on Friday, 1 July in the unit originally earmarked for Prezzo’s Tex Mex brand Chimichanga. Along with an authentic Mexican food menu, the restaurant will serve varieties of the classic cocktail margarita, as well as a range of tequilas and mezcals and distilled alcoholic drinks made from any type of agave plant native to Mexico. The bar team will also make a selection of Agua Frescas using fresh fruit and juices. Freddie Lock, of Mexico restaurants, told the Derby Telegraph: “We are hugely excited about the new opening. Mexico is going to be a game changer for lovers of Mexican food. Working with the legendary Johnny Hernandez, who is probably the finest Mexican cuisine chef in America, to create Mexico has been amazing. His menu will give guests a real taste of the rich variety Mexican cuisine has to offer, a change from the usual standard dishes, and we have a created a bar menu and cocktail list to match his creations.”
Propelinfonews.com – Peterborough licensee opens city’s first micro-pub: Entrepreneur Tom Beran, who runs the Coalheavers Arms in Park Street, Peterborough, has opened the city’s first micro-pub. Beran has launched the Bumble Inn in Westgate on the site of a former pharmacy. The 35-capacity micro-pub serves a range of real ales, British wines, real cider and craft keg, as well as premium bottles and cans. Beran told Peterborough Today: “I think we will fit in quite nicely with what Peterborough has to offer. We are not competition for the big mainstream pubs, we have no music, no television – this is a talking pub with an eclectic mix of beers to satisfy the beer-drinking community, but everyone is welcome.”

Propelinfonews.com – Suffolk hotel is first private company to open restaurant at US air base: A family-owned hotel in Suffolk has become the first private UK company to secure a contract to run a restaurant at a US air base. The award-winning Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa in Leavenheath has opened the Medana Mediterranean Kitchen restaurant at nearby RAF Lakenheath. The hotel’s Lakes Restaurant at Stoke by Nayland has two AA Rosettes. Susanna Rendall, managing director of Stoke by Nayland Hotel, told Bury Free Press: “We are looking forward to working with the team at RAF Lakenheath. We are pleased the excellent menu, which has been created and prepared by our executive head chef Alan Paton, and enthusiastic and professional team have been so well received on the base. We really appreciated the initial introduction to this opportunity by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and were delighted to win the contract in the face of some very tough competition.” The new restaurant will be accessible for up to 16,000 staff and residents at the RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall bases.
