Propelinfonews.com: Carvery Heaven set to grow to 15 sites, opens first US-themed concept: Carvery Heaven, the East Midlands multiple led by Mike Perry, is to open two more sites, taking its estate to 15, with its first US-themed offer set to open. The Fairway in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire re-opened this week as The Pear Tree following a £250,000 refurbishment in partnership with landlord Star Pubs & Bars. The pub is the 14th site for Carvery Heaven, 11 of which are with Star Pubs & Bars and is the first time Carvery Heaven has ventured into an American-themed food offer. A twelfth Star Pubs & Bars site, The Chequers Inn in Cropwell Bishop, also a few miles from Nottingham, will re-open following a £300,000 investment a month later.

Propelinfonews.com: Lincoln Green Brewing Company to take second Everards’ pub: Nottingham-based Lincoln Green Brewing Company is expanding into its second Everards’ pub in Nottingham, The Sir John Borlase Warren, after it opened the award-winning Robin Hood and Little John in Arnold last August. Brewery founder Anthony Hughes said: “We’ve got some fantastic plans that will bring some of the heritage back to the place. On top of our own range of traditional and seasonal ales, we’re also planning on introducing 44 types of unusual whiskies and gins – for example we will have whiskies from countries like Sweden, India and Japan.

Propelinfonews.com: Nine out of ten diners want more frequent menu changes: The vast majority of diners – 86% – would like to see more frequent menu changes when they eat out, research by the guest experience management company HospitalityGEM has found. Two thirds of those surveyed by HospitalityGEM said they would expect at least quarterly seasonal menu changes in restaurants and pubs. Independent restaurants are under even more scrutiny, with 50% of diners surveyed expecting multiple changes to the menu every month.

Golf Club Management: Illegal teeth whitening took place at golf club: Golf clubs are being warned that if any dental work takes place at their venues such as teeth whitening they should make sure that the technicians are legally allowed to carry it out. This strange warning comes as a woman has pleaded guilty to offering illegal teeth whitening at a golf and country club in Lancashire. Read More

Propelinfonews.com: Cinema and restaurants scheme passed in Ely: A scheme that would see two drive-through restaurants and up to eight other food outlets, plus a multiple-screen cinema, have been backed by the planning committee in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Negotiations are taking place with McDonald’s and KFC over the drive-through venues, councillors were told. The developer, Turnstone, said that 280 jobs could be created as part of the development, in Downham Road, next to the Ely Outdoor Sports Association, with the cinema potentially open by the summer of 2016. Because of the scale of the plans, the final say still rests with the Secretary of State, who will decide whether the plans should be called in for further scrutiny.

Golf Club Management: One of England’s premier golf clubs, Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire, has entered administration. The shock news comes just a year after the golf club announced it was spending nearly half a million pounds on buying a new fleet of golf buggies and greenkeeping machinery, refurbishing its changing room facilities and redecorating its restaurant. Also in the last 18 months the club has formed a partnership with Tottenham Hotspur and appointed model Jodie Kidd to develop its ladies’ golf section. Read More

Propelinfonews.com: McManus opens pub number 18: McManus Pub Company has opened its 18th venue, the Wharf Inn by the canal in Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire, which closed just before Christmas. Paul McManus, co-owner of the Northampton-based McManus chain, said the company had fitted new furniture, lighting and wallpaper as part of a £50,000 refurbishment. He said: “We are really happy with the pub and we are there for the long term.”

Propeinfonews.com: Batemans names its top licensees: Batemans, the family brewer based in Lincolnshire, named Sarah and Chris Sorrell, tenants of The Dog and Bone, based in Lincoln, as its Publican of the Year. The Dog and Bone received CAMRA’s Pub of the Year award for Lincoln last month, for the second year in a row. In 2014, it was also named as CAMRA’s Pub of the Year for Lincolnshire and the East Midlands. Stuart Bateman, managing director of Batemans Brewery, said: “Sarah and Chris have achieved so much over the last two years, we felt they had to be the winners of our Publican of the Year Award. Since taking over the pub, they’ve increased trade by 40%, which is a considerable accomplishment, and made it a real hub of the community, hosting ‘Stich ‘n’ Bitch’ craft and chat mornings, cookery competitions and film nights, among other activities. The CAMRA awards were also an incredible result – the first time one of our pubs has won such prestigious accolades.”

Telegraph.co.uk: Majestic Wine ‘buys’ a new boss with acquisition of Naked Wine: High street wine retailer acquires online rival and appoints its founder as their new chief executive of the combined group. The chairman of Majestic Wine says the retailer has “got lucky” after buying online rival Naked Wines for £70m and naming its founder as the new chief executive of the enlarged group. Phil Wrigley denied that making Rowan Gormley, founder of Naked Wines, the new chief executive of Majestic had been a condition of the online retailer agreeing to the takeover. Instead, Mr Wrigley said that during the takeover talks it “became apparent to me that Rowan would be a brilliant hire”. The management team of Naked Wines could bag £25m in cash and shares of the result of the deal, with Mr Gormley receiving a stake of more than 5pc in Majestic. Read More

Coventry Telegraph: New restaurants and bars planned by Wasps at Ricoh Arena after 50 per cent increase in turnover: Stadium reports 50 per cent increase in conference and exhibition turnover since rugby club’s ACL takeover. Wasps have announced a series of changes to the Ricoh Arena after a successful first four months running the business.The Premiership rugby side has revealed that the Hilton franchise will take over operation of the site’s 121-bedroom hotel from DeVere.Wasps also plan to upgrade the venue’s existing bars and restaurants and, when finished, the Ricoh Arena will offer five bars, three restaurants and more than 20 other food and drink outlets.Wasps have also announced a 50 per cent increase in the Ricoh Arena’s conference and exhibition turnover in the four months since the rugby club took over operation of the site.Hilton Worldwide have agreed terms for the conversion of the Ricoh Arena Hotel into a DoubleTree by Hilton.  Read More
